Dream. Work. Hustle. – A motto, lifestyle, and movement | Josh, Hip-Hop, Dream

Josh is the embodiment of his brand.  His drive is inspiring.  At just 22, he’s been honing in on his craft as an artist and it shows on his latest EP, “Motion Siccness.”  We’ve had his album on heavy rotation these last few days.  We love seeing Bronx creatives go after their dreams, as they share their talents with the world.  If there’s one thing Josh has, it’s talent.  His cadence is reminiscent of the 90s “Golden Era” of Hip-Hop.  In a current state of music when “mumble rap” dominates pop culture, Josh DWH brings authentic bars that captivate his listeners.  He placed second at Hot 97’s Who’s Next? live open mic, and won the crowd.

Josh is constantly pushing himself and his music, doing what needs to be done in order to make his dreams a reality.  He’s even caught the ear of Scottie Beam. In the video below, she gives feedback on his single “Lately.”

We asked Josh some quick questions on his experience growing up in the Bronx and some of his future plans.  You can download his newest EP “Motion Siccness” in the link below.  Also, check out the 5 freestyles he released on Soundcloud leading up to the release of his project.

What part of the Bronx are you from? Where did you grow up?

Im from uptown, East Gunhill Road. Grew up here for 22 years and counting.

How has living in the Bronx inspired or influenced your work?

We started Hip-hop, so knowing I’m from the borough that started this gives me a better insight, and makes me challenge myself to be a better MC, and song writer, not only for the founders but for everyone,to enjoy my music.

What’s your creative process?

Usually I go to concerts to catch inspiration or Im just around people who have their own thing going for themselves. I get motivated to step my game up and then I go home, and start going in with the pen. I actually write music, with a pen/pencil, not a fan of writing on the phone nor reading off one, in or out of the booth.

What ideas, if any, do you want to inspire with your art?

That there are no limitations, no matter what you go through, there is always twice as much room for improvement as there is disappointment, you just have to keep it moving and applying pressure.

Could you give some backstory on DWH? Any plans/dreams in the works you could give a little preview of?

Well it was me and my old manager that started the brand, at first I didn’t think of it as a movement, it was just the end to my name and a motto we followed. I started digging deeper as I did shows, recording, etc., and we started to treat it as a brand within itself. Next thing you know, Im heavily in the studio, and we got people at the shows chanting “Dream, work, hustle” relentlessly. And now I’m working to make it a house-hold name within Hip-Hop. – As for plans/dreams in the works, Im definitely dropping a lot of music for the new year, God willing. A lot of visuals to the tracks off “Motion Siccness” & that’s all I can say, for now.
