Do You Remember?
1.31k
Do you remember when you first met him? And how you had butterflies in your stomach when you heard his voice?
Do you remember the first date? And how you couldn’t help turning away when he stared in your eyes.
Do you remember how excited you were every time your phone rang? And you just knew it was him to say how much he loved you?
Do you remember when he first put his arms around you and kissed you? How you never felt a love like his before?
Do you remember when he said he was your “KING” and he would never hurt you? Remember how you put aside who you were before you met him because he meant the world to you?
Do you remember when he kissed your forehead in the most gentleness way and you felt safe?
Do you remember who YOU were before HE came?
You were beautiful, powerful and strong…..yet you were scared and afraid the first time he yelled across the room because you burned the food?
Do you remember closing your eyes the minute you heard his footsteps entering the same room? You just knew you would be the target of his verbal abuse?
Do you remember closing your eyes and praying that you could be in a far away land as he wrapped his hands around your throat and you gasped for air?
Do you remember the tears running down your face as you tried to embrace that this just might be your fate?
Now…..Close your eyes….do you see yourself walking away? Do you see yourself picking up your dignity and self-worth? Do you see that you are beautiful, powerful and strong?
Do you remember when you stood alone and no wind or storm could knock you down?
I remembered and I walked away…..
