I have love in my heart and strong will in my mind.
They gave me all of this pain.
Yet still,
they could not leave this girl blind.
They thought that they left me lost in the middle of the concrete jungle.
No way!
I told them that my own way,
I would find.
They gave me every disadvantage.
They wanted me to remain behind.
But,
their knowledge lacked.
They didn’t know the way that my soul was designed.
They can try to gentrify my borough,
but not what I am composed of.
They are angry because I remain unrefined.
I will pass this along,
time after time.
What you think that you took from me,
remained mine.
You think that you’ve given me darkness.
But,
I am greater than the sun.
Still I shine.
Still I shine.
