The Sweet Inevitable
For those afraid of the inevitable;
Elderliness or la muerte,
think of it as one selects a fruit.
Por ejemplo,
a mango, a guayava o a banana, o
the tamarindo
succumbed by elderliness
becomes scarred, dark-dark,
soft and sags,
igual to the physique
of old men and women.
Yet, you don’t think twice,
nor do you neglect the fruit,
but crave, yearn, consume,
te emociona—
although you had to climb the
tallest tree, trekking on branches,
under the sultry heat
“for what(?)”
most will call a hopeless expedition.
“It’s old nasty fruit”—and why,
because its taste is the
sweetest.
