Streetwear Brand, Signed by McFly, From The Bronx to the GRAMMYs

Some of the most iconic fashion moments of the last generation have happened at the GRAMMY’s: Michael Jackson’s white glove, Jennifer Lopez’s plunging neckline, and even Pharrell’s infamous park ranger hat. The GRAMMY’s has been consistently recognized as the most prestigious night for the music industry and a night for memorable design.  This year the Recording Academy has hand-selected Signed by McFly, the streetwear brand of self-taught fashion designer, Mugzy McFly as one of the brands included in the official GRAMMY gift bag.

Mugzy McFly, born Jevaughn Williams, is a Bronx-based former accountant turned entrepreneur who turned his love of streetwear into his own fashion line.  He is clearly elated, proudly stating “I’m honored & extremely excited to even be considered by the GRAMMYs. This is a milestone moment; I can’t wait to see what’s next.”

Gift bag recipients will include Dua Lipa, Post Malone, and Trevor Noah, just to name a few.  While Mugzy McFly and his team have been tight-lipped about exactly which celebrities will be wearing his signature pieces (and sneakers!), we can expect to see his designs pop up throughout the evening.

Mugzy’s 2021 collection was inspired by the slow and calmness of 2020, aptly defined as “comfy elevated” with neutral earth tones and calm prints. He describes the inspiration behind his 2021 designs further: “2021 fashion will reemerge from the slow, calm and chill we adapted from 2020. With restrictions being lifted, more people going out and getting back to the new normal the hunger to get dressed will be at an all-time high. 2021 will be very refreshing; it will be louder but comfy.”

Mugzy founded Signed by McFly in 2013 with a single graphic t-shirt and has since expanded into a wide range of pieces and accessories including sneakers, joggers, cargo pants, and, even, goggles.  His designs are unisex and genderless with flattering silhouettes and a tasteful use of orange accents. The style construction leans towards high-end and elevated streetwear.

While no announcement has been made yet, Houston and St. Louis are being considered for spring pop-ups.  All information on new releases and upcoming events can be found at @signedbymcfly Instagram page.

The 63rd GRAMMY Awards will air this Sunday, March 14th at 8pm EST on CBS.  Mugzy McFly is represented by Nicole Bryant of 3D Public Relations & Management.
