Today is Earth Day 2021, an international celebration and day of education and awareness surrounding global environmental issues.

The Bronx is celebrating Earth Day 2021 with free and paid events throughout the borough. Here is an unbridged list of events to check out. This is not an exhaustive list and does not include all events.

Get Outdoors: visit a beautiful Bronx park

There are dozens of parks in The Bronx with a wide range of activities and interests.  You can explore trails at Van Cortlandt Park, go hiking in Pelham Bay or Seton Falls Park, or walk alongside the Bronx River at Concrete Plant Park.  You can find a full list of Bronx parks here: NYC Bronx Parks

Bronx River Art Center: Mural and Workshop on Saturday

The Bronx River Art Center is hosting a workshop for children this Saturday. Register to learn from a trained artist and build upon basic art skills.

Pelham Bay Park: Hike & Clean-Up

In honor of Earth Day, join the Rangers to soak in and maintain the beauty of Pelham Bay Park as we hike the shoreline and remove trash along the way.

Free Watercolor Painting in Norwood

Join NYC Parks’ Arts, Culture & Fun for a weekly watercolor landscape workshop series in partnership with Seeds of the League. This month, artist Amy DiGi will teach you how to draw and paint using nature as our inspiration. All levels from beginners to advanced are welcome. Learn about light, color and design while making art en plein air (outside).

3K and 5K Run/Walk at The Bronx Zoo

This is an annual 3k and 5k run/walk at The Bronx Zoo to raise awareness of endangered species. This year’s race will help fundraise for Lemurs.

NYBG Virtual Educational Programming

The New York Botanical Garden has a wide range of free educational workshops and resources for children and adults.  You can learn about composting, DIY a sustainable planter, learn about butterfly migration, receive free coloring pages, and more!
