B and D – A Life’s Legacy

I wonder how old this train is, maybe, could be,
One of the B’s or D’s that took my old classmates and me to
field trips to Manhattan, when the annoying kids on the train
were my childhood friends and I, well dressed but far from
tame,
and it seems like they’re the same seats the same crew sat
on in high school, going the same way and back, different
decade but the same, Plain Jane tracks.
Just maybe, also my parents would come and go, or at least
I thought so, on these stainless steel, orange seat-tiled
legacy D and B train cars.Back then whenever that was,
when I was little or not yet born, and the city was going
through so much friction,
and the world was so much bigger; cable was new,
the internet – just science fiction.
These old trains are dated, faded;
rickety, cheap looking, and they may as well be family.
It’ll B bitter sweet when they get renovateD.
