Shoutout Sunday: Ashley Effrece

Sunday Shoutout is our new series profiling a creative we admire and have worked with.  We want to showcase the vibrant talent we have been fortunate to work and partner with, in all mediums.  Everyone from artists and designers, musicians and rappers, writers to photographers, we want to introduce you to new creatives in The Bronx.  This week meet Bronx writer Ashley Effrece.

Ashley Effrece

Ashley Effrece is a mom, podcaster, and writer with a passion for The Bronx and mental health awareness.

Ashley Effrece is a Puerto Rican writer and podcaster from The Bronx.  She launched a podcast, Make the Space with Ashley, in June 2020 which discusses “everything mental health in a world and culture where mental health is taboo.”

On her podcast, she shares her experiences and invites guests on who cover a wide range of topics including motherhood, the pandemic, and stigmas surrounding mental health.

Ashley is from the Kingsbridge neighborhood of the Bronx and grew up in the Throggs Neck projects. She loves the Bronx and considers it a damsel in distress. Her mission is to defend the Bronx, and help promote it’s culture, truth and light. She loves that the Bronx is raw, beautiful, gritty, resilient and so are the people.

Ashley was also one of the first writers who joined The Bronx Magazine as a contributor in 2017.  She has published nine pieces with the magazine about her passion for The Bronx and managing mental health. Check out her writer profile and previous articles here.
