GIANT – by Mecca Alim
Ink on Paper
11 x 17 Inches
I created this piece as part of my “World of Non-Judgement” series, which features characters I have created and are placed in a world free from bigotry and discrimination (racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, etc.). I created this series to personally combat the chaos that’s currently happening in society. Here, we have one of my giants looking back at the viewer, being very carefree and engaging, and not being mindful of what the viewer thinks of her.
Mecca Alim currently lives in the Edenwald section of the Bronx but is originally from Soundview. Living in the Bronx has inspired her because of the creativity and diversity within the borough. She sees every race and culture represented in the BX. She loves visiting places like the Botanical Gardens, The Bronx Zoo and Woodlawn Cemetery.
